Ingredients

  • ½ cup sugar

  • 1 cup water

  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch

  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter

  • 1 ½ teaspoon of vanilla extract

Directions

  • Mix 1/2 cup of sugar with 1 cup of water in a medium saucepan.
  • Add cornstarch and whisk over medium-high heat until sugar dissolves and syrup thickens.
  • Reduce heat to a low boil and continue whisking for 2 minutes.
  • Take off heat, add vanilla extract and cold butter pieces.
  • Whisk until butter is melted into syrup.
  • Let syrup cool before storing in an airtight container.
